late night adventure

It's taken me most of today to recover from a little adventure during the night. Miss Tizz and I took advantage of the National Gallery of Australia's free member entry to the Masterpieces from Paris exhibition. The only catch was that the free entry was between midnight and 6am. I went to the exhibition last week, but didn't have quite enough time to see it properly, and Miss Tizz was keen on the idea, so I woke her about 12.30am, and we were on the way before 1am.

I thought an hour would be enough for her, but I should have known better - we spent about two and a half hours wandering through the exhibition, drawing in the family room and talking about the paintings. Brilliant! Van Gogh, Cezanne, Gauguin, Monet, Toulouse-Lautrec and many more. The paintings are from the Musee d'Orsay in Paris, and are wonderful examples of post-Impressionism.

Miss Tizz's favourite painting is Paul Signac's Entry to the Port of Marseille:

She loves the colours, and how the short brush strokes of pure colour work together.

My favourites would probably be the works from van Gogh, especially Starry Night and Portrait of the Artist.
