state of the desk

I meant to post this photo in place of the last post, but if I do that then I won't have a post for tonight, so too bad.

This is the current state of my work desk:

It seems to just build up when I'm not looking ...

Ok - list time.

• On the left of the computer - stack of papers (kids' bank statements, recipe printouts, Magic 100 word list, and a souvenir teatowel from preschool 2008). All of which can be filed. Unopened pack of furniture corners (soft corners so kids don't hurt themselves) - can go in the 'donate' box. Power supply and cord - possibly for husband's laptop, because mine is plugged in - handed back to husband. Underneath the pile is my laptop bag - I can find a new home for that - somewhere vertical where it won't take up much space. Stray peg - needs to go back to laundry. Things made by kids - fringed 'To my travel partner' paper, paper fan, pipe cleaner person. 4 port USB hub (the coloured boxes next to the speaker - not sure if it works). Ipod charger - can go into charger case.
  

• Front left of desk - journal that I proofread/index (can go into magazine file). Sewing kit (the blue thing is the zipper of the clear plastic bag (move to sewing desk). Another power supply (check with husband), on top of some work samples (file), software (move to software cupboard, Chinese fan (husband bought it, but I don't really have a use for it - will find a home for it). Old photo (add to stack of photos that need to go into albums - at least if they're together there's a hope of doing it). Guides sash and bag, with badges that need sewing on (move to sewing desk, or better still - do it and hand back to Miss Tizz).
  
  
• In front of computer - keyboard (needs a clean), mouse, mousemats (two, one on top of the other. Top one is my favourite, but desperately needs cleaning - how do you clean a mousemat?). Glass of water on scrap paper 'coaster' (will get a proper coaster). Pens - should be in pen holder at right of computer.
  
  
• On computer support - CD (which can be put away), dragonfly & card (which can both stay).
  
  
• On right of desk - laptop + docking station + graphics tablet. On top of them, back to front, wooden artist's mannekin, more papers (superannuation - must sort out, letter from Athlete's Foot reminding me the kids need new school shoes - make note in diary + recycle letter, Dymocks Booklovers gold card - sign & move to wallet + recycle letter, coverless kd lang CD - I think I know where the cover is, visual diary with not much in it yet - needs a home, diaries - old black one [file] + new lovely soft green one [use daily]).
  
  
• Drawers - sorted these out a while ago and they're fine as they are.

So now I have no excuse - I have a list of things to do tomorrow which shouldn't take long - and then the desk will be clear again. A much better workspace!
