CHANGE.
I'm going to set a theme on this blog for each month this year, and I'm starting off the year with 'change'. It seems appropriate, what with New Year's resolutions flying around, and January often being the time people make big changes - moving house, changing jobs, going on diets and so on. I'm not planning on doing any of those, but there's still a certain frisson of excitement with the passing of the old year, and a fresh, clean slate to start the new.
I mentioned yesterday some of the things I want to do and change in my life. Something I didn't mention is my hair colour (woo - smooth segue!). It's currently pink - but barely, and pretty patchy. I've been hesitant in getting it re-dyed because it was starting to feel like a chore, and it meant I had to be really careful in the rain, I couldn't go swimming, and when it was fresh it would rub off on clothes/skin/bedding/pretty much everything. Miss Tizz delighted in rubbing her fingernails in my hair to colour them!
I've tried purple - love it, but it doesn't last as long as the bright pink + red mix I've had lately (the red permanent colour seems to hold the semi-permanent pink a lot longer). I tried blue - and ended up with a washed out grey within a couple of weeks. I tried a very light pink - and it was barely visible. I tried bleaching it to white, but my hair 'throws gold' - which is my hairdresser's lovely way of saying it goes brassy without constant treatment with a violet toner. I didn't mind it, but after the colours it felt very beige.
What to do?
The plan at this stage is to let this colour wash out a little more, and then try another pink - a mid-range 'pretty' pink. I also want to talk with my hairdresser about doing some maintenance at home - it's all getting a bit expensive, and I have other priorities at the moment.
So there you go - something deep and meaningful to start the week. Stand by for updates!
