A certain bookseller, that is, where I have spent a LOT of money in the past 12 months. The minute I start talking about resisting buying more books, what should turn up in the mail but a GOLD card to their loyalty program!
But I resisted the temptation to run out and buy more (now there's a change!), and headed for our local library instead. The children were thrilled - we haven't been for a while as last time the X-man thought it was hilarious to chase his sister around the shelves, and once he starts getting over-excited the noise level starts going up. Not that the librarians are terribly strict these days, but it wasn't fair to other patrons.
Each of us chose some books to borrow, and as we were going through the self-serve scanning machines to check them out, a librarian came over to see if we needed any help. She noticed that I had a few books on Rome and Pompeii, and asked about them, so I told her that Miss Tizz and I are hoping to travel there later this year. Turns out she had lived in London for some time, and had travelled to Italy. She recommended that we stay at least one night in Pompeii, to give us plenty of time to visit the excavations, and invited us to come back and talk about our plans whenever we wanted. We may just take her up on that offer :)
Talking about the travel plans ... Miss Tizz now seems quite keen to visit Venice, so I'm going to look into the possibility of a flight from London or Paris to Venice, and then to Rome (either by air or rail).
