everybody's doing it

... a New Year's Eve wrap up, that is.

So - 2009. I think the word for the year, for me, has to be 'change'. There have been sad farewells, frustrations and a lot of what felt like treading water. There has been hope and planning. There have been seeds sown that will bear fruit in 2010, all being well.

I like change, but there's been so much of it this year it feels like I've been tumbling almost non-stop. There's been little time to recover and restabilise before the next thing hits. And that wears you out after a while. So I've spent a lot of this year exhausted.

As we move into a new decade (ok - so there's debate over whether it starts tomorrow or in a year's time, but I'll go with 2010), I realised it's been a whole decade of change. We were married and bought this house in 1999, and things were still settling domestically. The children were born in 2001 and 2003, so massive changes there. I left one job, went to something completely different, and was establishing my business at the same time (and now it's my sole source of income).

I've done a lot of research and reading and learning. It feels like preparation that will be put to use in the next phase of my life.

And I'm looking forward to 2010 and a whole year of new experiences.
