routine: FAIL

I mentioned that I'm not a very routine-oriented person, and a couple of weeks into my blog-every-day project, I've managed to miss a day already. Ah well ...

A good part of yesterday was spent whittling down the pile of travel brochures into a notebook of essential information and ideas for the Europe trip. Miss T and I have pretty much decided we'll concentrate on England, France and Italy this time, and we'll probably base ourselves in one place in each country (possibly two for Italy) and work within a daytrip radius from each location. While it would be nice to see more, we'd rather see places in a little more depth than do a whistlestop tour of the highlights. We're already thinking about future travel, so seeing it all in one go doesn't seem so crucial. Being used to Australian distances means we should be able to see a fair bit in daytrips, and we won't be carting luggage every day.

This means we can start checking out accommodation possibilities in London, Paris and Rome, just as an early indication.

I've also started collecting photos of places we intend visiting, so I can put together an illustrated itinerary for the boys before we go.
